Improving oral health for your pregnant patients
Encourage your expecting patients to improve their oral health. Expecting mothers should have a dental visit during pregnancy, and babies should visit the dentist by age 1. Oral health is extremely important for your pregnant patients. 25% of women do not see a dentist during pregnancy and 46% of pregnant women did not have their teeth cleaned in the year before or during pregnancy.
Michigan Council for Maternal and Child Health (MCMCH) is dedicated to improving oral health for expecting mothers and their children.
See MCMCH Roadmap to Improving Oral Health infographic for more information on what is happening statewide to promote dental health to pregnant patients.
