Reminder: Sports, travel and work-required COVID-19 tests not covered
As a reminder, COVID-19 tests required for work, sports or travel are not a covered service.
Testing for COVID-19 continues to be covered with no member cost share when it's medically necessary and ordered by a physician or advanced practice provider.
To support athletes and teams to incorporate COVID-19 testing into their sports season, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is offering the MI Safer Sports Testing Program to provide free rapid antigen testing to student athletes. Enrolling in the MI Safer Sports Testing Program is just one option for schools and sports organizations to comply with the testing requirements.
Free COVID-19 testing sites are also available across the state. Your patients can find a location on the Michigan.gov website.
We'll continue to waive all copays, deductibles and coinsurance for medically necessary treatment of COVID-19 through September 30, 2021*.
