Health equity expert at Priority Health named a notable leader by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — October 30, 2023) Shannon Wilson, vice president of population health and health equity at Priority Health, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, has been named a “Notable Leader in Health Care” by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business.

The notable leaders program recognizes best-in-class executives across a range of industries making a difference in their jobs and in their communities.

Wilson is responsible for quality improvement for Priority Health’s Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and Individual lines of business. She oversees the development and execution of Priority Health’s population health and health equity strategy, and serves as executive director of the Priority Health Total Health Foundation. Wilson was appointed as Priority Health’s first-ever vice president of population health and health equity in 2022.

Wilson serves as an expert on the intersection between health and race and has led several initiatives aimed at improving the health care experience for vulnerable populations. She played a critical role in the launch of Priority Health’s data-driven social determinants of health program, and is an active leader, both in the industry and community. She serves on several boards including Meijer Gardens, Children’s Healing Center, Our Kitchen Table and Net Health of West Michigan.

Wilson received a master’s degree in hospital and molecular epidemiology from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Michigan State University.
