Priority Health Medicaid coverage expands to Northern Michigan
(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – September 9, 2024) Tens of thousands of Medicaid members who live in the northern lower peninsula now have the opportunity to choose Priority Health for their health care plan. Priority Health Choice ® Medicaid is the only lower peninsula health plan to receive the highest possible Medicaid quality rating from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS).
Priority Health gained the new regions after a rebid earlier this year as part of MIHealthyLife, an initiative launched in 2022 to strengthen Medicaid services through new Medicaid health plan contracts. Priority Health Choice Medicaid is now available to those living in Alcona, Alpena, Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Crawford, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Iosco, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon and Wexford counties.
“Priority Health is committed to providing northern Michigan families with access to health care services that best fit their needs,” said Bethany Swartz, director, Priority Health Medicaid. “It is our privilege to be entrusted by the state to serve Medicaid beneficiaries not only in Northern Michigan, but also to continue serving members in West Michigan and the Detroit Metro area.
Medicaid members whose plan will be leaving a region will receive a mailed notification letter from MDHHS beginning August 26, 2024. The letters will be printed on yellow paper and will include detailed instructions on how to choose a new health plan. Members must respond by September 17, 2024. If a member does not actively select a new plan, they will be assigned to a Medicaid plan by the MDHHS. Plans go into effect October 1, 2024.
